Just A Ghost Of MeThere's cracks in the ceiling and there's paint peeling off the wall. The cross is a little crooked, but it has yet to fall. I looked around the room and tried to remember how I got there. I shivered as I noticed the muddy foot prints coming near. I walked out onto the front steps of the church and sat down. I rest my head on the pillar and listened to the rains cold sound. I stared out into the rain. Only knowing my pain. A selfish reminder of the girl I use to be, but I don't care. I just want to know me. Is it so wrong to want to bring myself up out of this depression. When you're lost for so long your life is no longer Just A Ghost Of Me

Playing In The RoadI found myself sitting on the yellow line. The cars swerve by knowing I'm not fine. I picked at a hole in my torn knee. Wondering how deep everyone could see in me. Yell all you want but this asphalt is warmer. It's showed me more affection than your angry reminders. I understand that I can't be your perfect daughter, but I can't change and your anger is just getting hotter. I closed myself in so tightly. Never wanting to be seen. I cling to these last few days like they are the very reason I am alive, but really this little girl is not ready to just attempt to survive. Dreams were broken and memories were burned. Some of the things we lost could never be returned. So as my feet grace the hallways of a forgotten home, I’ll try to breathe through the ever present unknown.

You can’t push me off the edge. I’m free falling. Stumbling over my words. Just stalling. These tears are not happy ones. Every drop has a meaning. I seem to be lost in the past, but I am slowly weaning.

Change has never been my friend. I’ll hold on till the very end. Clinging till my hands are sore and I’m exhausted screaming on the floor. The woman in me is afraid. So many nights she has prayed, but will that be enough to give her strength? To let her live life’s full length?

I watch the sunset across the field. Seems like life is ready to be revealed. Just a little longer for it all to sink in. I guess we had to be ready for this end. So with a stutter the little girl says her last goodbyes, and the woman emerges as the little girl dies.
